A CO2 Laser is probably the most common of lasers used for the marking and engraving of components. It can work on materials but due to its wavelength it’s especially good on materials like glass, leather and wood . The CO2 laser normally has flying optics which means it can engrave large areas and be used to cut thin sheets of plastics and wood and paper. We have used the CO2 to engrave wine bottles with wedding dates as they make a cost effective personalised gift. Because the CO2 uses a flat bed it is ideal for cutting complex shapes in plastics & wood & it ideally suited to the Awards industry.
